Fire and Flood Dryout

Public Housing Complex Craw Space Dry-Out

Challenge
A main water supply line to a public housing complex had broken in the crawl space of the facility, flooding the confined space with several inches of standing water. The Restoration contractor deployed a series of dehumidifiers in the crawl space and soon realized they would not achieve the desired results in the time required.

Objectives

The Restoration Contractor contacted ICS Group to:
  • Dry out the crawl space quickly and effectively
  • Reduce relative humidity and moisture content in materials to target levels
  • Keep set-up and take down of equipment to a minimum
Solution
The Restoration Contractor worked with the ICS Group Rapid-Dry service team to design, configure and provide services to dry out the crawl space. Portable climate control equipment was utilized to positively pressurize the crawl space with hot-dry air at a specified number of air changes.

Result
The dry-out process was successful in meeting the intended time frame and reducing moisture to the specified target levels.
